Caroline Smith

"Caroline Smith was born in Liverpool and studied at both Birmingham Conservatoire and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

She works as a freelance pianist and teacher in Liverpool specializing in the accompaniment of choral and vocal repertoire.
She is the official accompanist for the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir and in 2009 became the assistant accompanist for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Choir.

She has worked with various international conductors, such as Vasily Petrenko, Thomas Sanderling, Bob Chilcott and Professor Ian Tracy.
Caroline regularly accompanies Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Company masterclasses and workshops most recently with violinist Nicola Benedetti, Tenor Ben Johnson and Mezzo-Soprano Jennifer Johnson.

Caroline is an experienced performer with recent works including Orff’s Carmina Burana for two pianos and percussion, Shoebox musical at The Bluecoat, Steve Reich’s Six Pianos as well as more informal silent cinema improvisatory performances. She performs with the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir at the ‘Spirit of Christmas’ concerts held annually at the Philharmonic Hall. Caroline was involved in preparing the Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choir for their performance of ‘Imagine’ at the closing ceremony of the 2012 Olympics. She is also the official accompanist for the annual Liverpool Philharmonic ‘Supersing’ course led by conductor Ian Chesworth. (BBC Sing while you work- Airport Choir).
She is an experienced teacher of Music technology and was appointed Director of Music at St Margaret’s C.E. Academy in September 2012.

Her forthcoming engagements with the youth choir will include ‘Choral Celebration’ at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on 2nd July and Llangollen Eisteddfod 6th July." ( text copyrighted to Caroline Smith)
