"The Journey of Thought or Meditations"

An exhibition of most recent oil paintings by Nicole Bartos

Artist’ Statement:

“The rhythm and vibration of my work is determined by the levels of energy and the waves of thought.
By allowing space, energy and irrational expressions, of the subconscious mind, to take form through the tip of each brush or painting knife, meditation follows; I relax and certainly heal (energy wise).
Those exercises that come from an awareness or ‘mimicry’ of a certain feeling are mostly performed in silence or, accompanied by (classical) music.
I intend to achieve 'nothing' as a state of mind, which means no more unwanted thoughts. As most people know, is not always easy to achieve this, to let go, have
'nothing'. Prayer and dance, meditative movement or music, all help.

Similar to poetry or other writing process, such as calligraphy (Oriental), inspired at different hours/days or by different states of mind, some of my work cycles vary through the working manner and subject, as I try to express a specific state of mind; painting allows me to find my ‘inner self’, while wondering within meditative moments; it takes me on that ‘journey of thought’... Eventually, I find the true expression of one single moment.
I impose myself a process to expressing inner energies through colour; this helps with ‘balance’ and 'cleansing' of the aura; 'releasing'/ ’spending’ the old and 'collecting' new energies, as I am taught through Qi Gong.
I hope that these works are to be enjoyed and resonated with.”

Nicole Bartos, Liverpool based artist, originally from Romania, has been working and exhibiting since 1997 in the field of abstract, experimental (research) and conceptual art using a range of media: mixed-media, installation, land-art, ceramics/ sculpture, painting, drawing and photography. As painting styles she admires the works of Soulages, Zao Wu-Ki, Chagall, some Oriental art and calligraphy, etc.
She acknowledges art as a ‘healing force’ and therapeutic. Independently, Nicole has been curated many art projects and exhibitions to date, including international exhibitions for the Liverpool Biennial & Independents.

Since, 2006 Nicole has initiated and developed Gallery4allarts (www.gallery4allarts.com).
While curating, the artist exhibits through solo and group art exhibitions, holds art workshops and Qi Gong sessions. Commissions accepted for painting, small scale murals and recycle furniture transforming it into artwork.

(Sy. K-M, France)
