Christmas presence 2006

@ The Bridewell Gallery, Prescot street, Liverpool

An Invitation to members of The Living Market to participate in Christmas Presence Art and Craft Event at The Bridewell Gallery.

Saturday 9th December 2006
On Saturday the 9th of December The Bridewell Gallery will hold an
opening event for its Christmas craft exhibition. As part of this event we
would like to invite members of The Living Market to hold stalls in the
courtyard of the Bridewell Studios from 11am onwards.

The Bridewell can supply a limited number of tables (although it would
be appreciated if stall holders could bring their own.) We will not be
charging a fee for participation but will take 20% commission on all sales. The
event will be in our courtyard: an outdoor space that is surrounded by four
walls and will be temporarily covered to protect stallholders and their goods
from the weather. Food and refreshments will be available. The Bridewell
will be responsible for marketing the event through flyers, local press and
websites.

We expect the event to be attended by members of the local community,
members of the Bridewell, arts and craft practitioners and members of
the general public interested in buying well designed art and crafts items.

The Bridewell Gallery’s Christmas Presence Art and Craft Exhibition
will feature high quality jewellery, ceramics, printmaking, glass, basketry
and textiles from both Bridewell based artists and national artists.
Confirmed participants include John Ayling, Claire Bates, Alejandra Castro, Wu
Chui, Beccy Williams and others. It will run in our gallery space between
9th December and 13th January. We are looking to create a lively and
well-attended opening event and feel that members of The Living Market
would be a valuable addition to our programme.

If you would like to participate please contact The Gallery Coordinator
on 07810627763 or vc.bartlett@hotmail.com as soon as possible.
(please also CC Beccy Williams at living_market@yahoo.co.uk)

‘ Packolocker'
@52 Roscoe Street, Liverpoo
l
'Art and Design is Rubbish'

Fridge-doors, crisp-packets, bicycle inner-tubes, coffee sacks, giant cable reels, shopping trollies, cassette tapes, wheelbarrows and plastic milk bottles are all given a makeover in this exhibition. Presented as sleek new products a far cry from the skips and bins they were hauled from, transformed from undesirables to objects of desire.

The Packolocker
exhibition is a challenge to our preconception of what we see as old and dirty compared to clean and new. The collection of pieces from Liverpool, Manchester, London and Milan all give new life to waste materials through innovative re-use in both functional and aesthetic form.
Showing at 52 Roscoe Street, a recycled city-centre warehouse space, with new pieces added to the collection, previously shown at The Afoundation’s Blade Factory on Greenland Street during the earlier part of the Biennial. Work from British Artists, Designers and high-end International Manufacturers with the aim of turning disgust to delight.

‘ Packolocker’.
52 Roscoe Street, Liverpool.
Open to the public Wed-Sat 12-6pm until November 25th
Closing event on Saturday the 25th with Creative Recycling Workshops for all ages, live music, food and drinks, as well as stalls from artists and makers at The Living Market.
